I think I saw the British Airways flight had 1st checked bag free, but 2nd checked bag @ $200. 
- Was there a possibility of a negotiated rate for the band's drums? 
- or is the band going to pay $200 x 6 snares/tenors (x 2 flights?) + however much the bass drum is? 
- or are the drummers expected to get their harnesses and all clothes into a carry-on and wear the same clothes for 11 days ?   ;)

Bill, from what I can tell the policy is 1 free checked bag, $100 for the 1st extra, and $200 for a second extra, $200 for each extra bag after that (or $84 and $168 if checking them online instead of airport). Good question about a negotiated price though...

Last time we went, drummers packed some clothes in their drum cases and carried on the harness and a suitcase. If someone wants to check with British Airways about reducing the extra fee, that would be wonderful.

OK, I guess I'll be taking off my bottom head and stuffing the drum with some clothes, then.
 
note that drummers will also need to take some spare drum heads along; these may need to be distributed among the drum cases.
